NARSOL to Join ACSOL at D.C. Conference

The National Association for Rational Sex Offender Laws (NARSOL) has agreed to join ACSOL at the conference on March 2 to be held near Washington, D.C.  The conference will begin at 9 a.m. at the Holiday Inn National Airport, 2650 Richmond Highway, Arlington, Virginia, and end at 4:30 p.m.  Both organizations will make presentations during the conference and could be joined by additional organizations.

The day following the conference, a vigil will be held near the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court starting at 11 a.m.  The purpose of the vigil is to educate the Court regarding the significant harm caused to registrants and their families by a decision issued in March 2003, Smith v. Doe.  In that decision, the Court determined that registration is not punishment and therefore governments at every level (city, county, state and federal) can pass new laws and apply them retroactively to persons required to register.

Registrants are allowed to visit the state of Virginia for up to 30 days without being required to register in that state.  Registrants are not required to register in the District of Columbia regardless of the amount of time they visit.

Isn’t the vigil going to be at the steps in front of the SCOTUS building where it was held during the Teamwork Makes the Dream Work event?

Good luck and thank you!!

Maybe this is being done, and i missee it, but I think it would be interesting to have formal open invitations extended to the justices to attend. Yes, I know the chances of any of them showing up are slim to none, but it couldn’t hurt. Either way, it’s nice to see both organizations teaming up!

This is great news! Strength in numbers.

I tried looking up the hotel located on Jefferson Davis Hwy in Alington. Didn’t work! It appears the street name has been politically corrected to Richmond Hwy. The street number is the same, 2650. If this isn’t correct, please advise.

Imagine if 300,000 registrants showed up in DC for a day.
